Examination under general anaesthesia
If during the consultation with the ear-nose-throat specialist, a cancer is suspected, an examination under general anaesthesia in the operating room will be scheduled. This examination is called a poly-endoscopy or endoscopic assessment.
There are several objectives:
- See the cancer clearly, its size and its extent, to be able to choose the best treatment.
- Take specimens to confirm that it is actually cancer. The results are obtained within a period of 2 weeks.
